Brintons donates to Scrapstore

We are always looking for ways to reuse and recycle our leftover yarn and carpet samples. Recently we were more than happy to donate various samples to a wonderful UK based charity - Children's Scrapstore. Their PR Officer Ella shares a little more about what they do....

The Children’s Scrapstore charity launched in Bristol over 30 years ago in a small lock up, with just one aim - to provide materials for children to use creatively through play. Fast forward to today and Children’s Scrapstore still operate by the same values, but in a much larger warehouse, with branches in Taunton, Weston-Super-Mare and Salford. This kind of growth would not have been possible without the help of our loyal suppliers, like Brintons.

Children’s Scrapstore provides access to cheap and abundant materials, and we rely on donations of scrap which our members can collect to use with children and adults in creative, educational or care settings. Through our member groups and the Scrapstore PlayPods® programme, Children’s Scrapstore reaches over 500,000 children nationwide, and helps enrich their play and creativity.

A Scrapstore PlayPod® is a permanent structure filled with loose parts for children to use during break times. Over 300 schools across the country have Scrapstore PlayPods®, where they provide children with the opportunity to explore materials not usually found in a school playground. All of these resources, like everything in the Scrapstore, is donated by businesses and manufactures from across the UK to help us reach more and more children each year.

Children’s Scrapstore would like to thank Brintons for their generous donation of over 30,000 carpet samples. Brinton’s kind donation will directly impact the wellbeing of children up and down the UK, not only by enriching play and break time in schools, but also by providing thousands of opportunities to use these simple carpet samples to create seats, slide mats, dens and countless other ideas which come only from the imagination of a child.
