Geo Pop

Bring a chic, retro vibe into your room with this offbeat and playful trend. We’ve coined this ‘Geo Pop’ as it signifies a fusion of patterns with daring pop culture.

Taking inspiration from Camille Walala signature style of presenting boundless energy in show-stopping spaces, it also draws influences from the Memphis and Bauhaus design movements. The main thing with this look is that it is fun!

Geometrics have been popular for a while but adding different textures and bright colours with them can give your room a modern and cosy feel. Street art and abstract images and shapes work well as statement pieces or use a feature wall in a linear print. Break the rules by exposing raw surfaces and then warm them up with textured fabrics and cushions or by using prints in contrasting shades. Experiment with bold colour blocking of pinks, blues or aquas and mix with black & whites. Geometric motifs and silhouettes can clash with brights to pull it altogether as a scheme. Quirky or period accessories can add interest and catch the eye too.

A great example of this style in practice is our beautiful custom carpet for London restaurant Quaglino's (shown here). The triangled carpet design complimented the geometric walls and furniture perfectly to create a striking impact for visitors.

Whilst you may want to choose a more timeless carpet there is no reason that this can’t be your base to build the theme around. A usually conservative stripe like our Pure Living Retro Cord looks great against the bright splashes of colour and eye-popping patterns or our Bell plain carpets can help to tone down bold or brash accents, making a scheme more inviting. Whilst not for the faint hearted using this trend for inspiration can certainly make a fantastic addition in any home.
